Aloha!

Friday April 14 one more fun filled day before I head back to Chi-Town.

Today we visited Pearl Harbor. There are memorials on this Navy Base dedicated to those who were killed during the Japanese attack in 1941. Daddy told me to look for his cousin Archie Callahan Jr.'s name. He was only 18 years old when he was killed while on duty aboard the Battleship USS Oklahoma. Here is the picture of the plaque with his name on it. I called Daddy while I was there to tell him I found his cousin's name.

Here an old control tower at Pearl Harbor.

Later that night we went to a luau. It was at the Polynesian Cultural Center. We saw how they roasted a whole pig in the ground. I don't think we ate that actual pig. There was a huge buffet with lots yummy Hawaiian food. I learned alot about the Polynesian culture at this center.

Now it's time to say good-bye!
Or should I say Aloha! That means good bye also. Here I am hugging a palm tree (sniff, sniff).

Before I go I want to show you some cool things around Hawaii!

The city bus is actually named "The Bus". I thought that was cute.

This is a banyan tree.

An exotic bird.

Many different palm trees.

Here is an elementary school.
It is at the foot of one of those beautiful mountains.
(Wish my school was at the foot of a beautiful mountain-instead of a next to a L train station!)

There's my plane!
Aloha!

I didn't get to see Keith again. When I was on the base Friday, he was out in the field at the shooting range. But I did talk to him over the phone and he said he will be home for a 30 day leave sometime in May.

Since I didn't get any pictures of Keith, I found this picture of JJ and Keith from back in the day playing Superman. Little did they know back then, that they will be in the same Marine battalion.
